Considering the enormous economic hardship experienced by our people in Nigeria it’s important for us to do our best in alleviating the overall burden with what we have within our control.
Many homes in our community are marked with joblessness, especially with women. Even our men struggle to survive with only odd jobs.
Our Government cannot manage this situation alone – there’s a limit to what can be done by them in the current economic climate. Well-meaning individuals and groups are urgently needed to help in empowering the disadvantaged and needy.
The Development & Outreach ministry-arm of Assurance Pentecostal Church Int’l seeks to function in positive ways in the work of empowering people within our immediate regions; Kajola, Ijoko-Otta, and Ogun State, in Nigeria.
Our desire is to help unemployed youths to be skilled in the vocations of their choice and be empowered with finance, to step-out in the vocation of their choice. The elderly, men and women, are also given the same consideration.
We have already begun this exercise with a number of women as we marveled at their hunger for socio-economic reforms. Our belief is that socio-economic status of our people could be enhanced through the empowerment of women in Nigeria, whose actions has greatly helped many homes to survive.
In the community where we operate, we have extensive experience with families who struggle to cope with life challenges without there being an adequate male presence. This has caused women to fend for their families alone.
Skills acquisition for women in our community appears to be an important option in this empowerment drive. And we praise our God for the smooth launch of our developmental outreach through the empowerment of over twelve women who showed keen interest to acquire the skill of making liquid soap for sale.
These women have since been trained without a cost attached and we have further helped or empowered only few of these women to take off while we trust God for more finance to reach out to the remaining women.
While these few committed women go to work with what they have learnt, our prayers are that God Almighty will help them to succeed and that He will make available additional financial grace to empower others.
